When it gets HOT, bake cookies outside! Together with Marlena, Americorps staff, and Tyra, Tutor, our students made solar ovens and tried baking cookies and mini pizzas outside last month.

Across the campus, you can hear when the upper grade students are playing Tsidił, also referred to as a Navajo Stick Game, because they shout out in excitement.  

Kyzo, on the extreme right, is leading a "Guess the Color in Diné" activity (he draws color cards which he shows the students) and Stevie, in the middle, is so excited to provide the correct answer.  The two on the left are anxiously waiting to hear whether she gets it right.

Our kindergarten and first grade students have been learning about the Navajo Nation flag.  By the way, our flag is nearly 50 years old, it was adopted by the Navajo Nation Council on May 21, 1968.

Our students are busy writing about the beginning, middle and end of stories they're listening to and reading on their own. We love how our Diné language and culture studies influence students to dress up for school. They're proud to wear their turquoise and silver!

Addressing health and wellness is part of our mission and our gardens support this. Dream Diné has several garden beds, and some fruit trees, that were planted by our students through our collaboration with Yéego Gardening (branch of NMSU).
